Inception (2010)
I’m gonna give you my rating right up front: 5 solid stars!
The biggest thing I liked about going into this movie was that I didn’t know much of what it was about. From all the previews and commercials I hadn’t gotten anything more than: it has something to do with dreams. And because this was a plus for me – I’m not going to say anything more that might give it away!
If you need a reference, I say: think ‘The Matrix’. This movie is comparable to that, only completely different! But just as mind blowing excellent (if not more because it’s several years later and special effects are just that much cooler).
Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays Cobb (our main character), does a fine job. I have enjoyed watching this actor in his journey to the A list. I heard a rumour that his parents gave him such a unique name because they ‘always knew’ he’d be famous some day. Well, they were right. And it’s not like he hasn’t earned that fame! He’s a hard worker, stepping into his roles seamlessly so that we, the audience, feel as if he is no longer Leonardo, on is whomever he’s portraying. Two thumbs up and all eight fingers too.
Joseph Gordoin-Levitt, who plays Arthur, has been big on my ‘cutie’ list. I fell in love with his innocent portrayal of ‘Tommy’ from ‘Third Rock from the Sun’ the quirky TV series from the ‘90’s. Now he’s grown into a handsome young man. In this film he has done a fine job playing his role. Two thumbs up.
Ellen Page, playing Ariadne, well, do I have to tell you that I have enjoyed her for several years now? If I do – then this is me telling you. She plays her role smoothly, and I enjoyed her as much as the rest.
I may as well say right here that I liked the whole cast! Every one of them!! It was nice to see the small appearance of Michael Caine too.
The story was perfect, drawing me in and challenging me to try and think ahead of it (because that is the way I am). I put it together but I don’t feel like it was too far ahead of what they intended the watchers to do. And the ending... you didn’t think I’d give that away did you? – the ending was PERFECT. I wish I could tell you more – but I won’t ruin it.
Go to this show. It’s worth the movie ticket price! Even more worth it to see in AltraAVX at Cineplex CrossIron Mills. (that’s where I watched it and, ya – go).
Until next escape,
Aviva B.
